The situation of COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam has recently experienced new and complicated developments. The quantity of confirmed cases has increased. There are many cases with new covid subvariants BA.04, BA.05. Vaccination against COVID-19 is an effective and strategic measure for COVID - 19 prevention and control.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has full professional guidelines on vaccination against COVID-19, but there has been misinformation on the name of the doses in recent times.  To ensure uniformity and further accelerate of COVID-19 vaccination; rapidly increase the vaccination coverage rate for target groups, especially children aged from 5 to under 12 and  high – risk groups; ensure safety and flexible adaption to possible epidemic developments under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health adjusts and clarifies the methods of identification of injections and the time of injection. To be specific:

1. Immediately vaccinate the target groups against COVID-19 after sufficient time. To be specific:

- 3^rd dose

+ Persons aged 18 or older: the third dose should be immediately given three months after their 2^nd dose. Persons who have COVID-19 infection: the third dose should be immediately given after full recovery from the disease.

+ Persons aged 12 to under 18: the third dose should be immediately given 5 months after their 2^nd dose. Persons who have COVID-19 infection: the third dose should be immediately given three months after full recovery from the disease.

- Children aged 5 to under 12: Children who have COVID-19 infection shall be immediately vaccinated three months after full recovery from the disease.

2. The People's Committees of provinces are recommended to:

- Promote information and communication on the benefits and effectiveness of vaccines; focus on communication and vaccination for target groups, especially children aged from 5 to under 12, high-risk children, children who live in areas with low vaccination coverage; organize teams to disseminate information and promote vaccination to each residential area.

- Announce vaccination sites in the local areas (address, persons who are responsible for vaccination, contact information) and notify the people for them to have vaccination in time.

3. The Ministry of Education and Training is recommended to accelerate of COVID-19 vaccination for preschoolers and students, especially children aged from 5 to under 12 and high-risk children; quickly administer the third and fourth doses to officials, public employees and employees in their sectors under the guidance of the Ministry of Health; strengthen communication and counselling for students, parents or legal guardians of children and students about the benefits of vaccination, possible side effects after vaccination and responsibilities for assurance about children’s rights to be vaccinated in order to create consensus and encourage children and their parents or legal guardians to have their children vaccinated.

4. The ministries are recommended to further accelerate of COVID-19 vaccination for officials, public employees, employees, soldiers in their sectors to ensure that all the subjects are fully vaccinated according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
