In furtherance of directives of National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in its meeting on 06/5/2020; In consideration of the fact that Covid-19 situation in Vietnam is under control and the risk of local transmission has decreased (no local cases over the last 21 days); on the basis of recommendations by the Ministry of Health, continued from Official Dispatch no. 1398/BGDDT-GDTC dated 23/4/2020 on protection of students upon school reopening, the Ministry of Education and Training requests that local governments and schools follow these instructions:

- Do not use face shields in class; do not make wearing facemasks mandatory in class; require wearing facemasks on the way from home to school and vice versa, before entering and after leaving the classroom and during recess;

- Do not require social distancing in class. Avoid contact between students in different classes and in crowded areas;

- Air conditioners may be used in classrooms; open the doors and windows at the end of each session to increase ventilation; clean and disinfect surfaces, classrooms, restrooms and implement other epidemic prevention and control as prescribed.

Local governments and school shall provide guidance on implementation of these instructions, inspect and supervise the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures in their areas, and promptly report to the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Education and Training via email: bcd_ncov@moet.gov.vn; phone number: 078.678.3535.
